Jack London's Secret to Motivation

When Jack London was interviewed and asked about how to stay motivated and inspired to write a novel, he said the following:
“Don’t loaf and invite inspiration; light out after it with a club, and if you don’t get it you will nonetheless get something that looks remarkably like it."
- Jack London
It may sound counter-intuitive to say, in order to get motivated - just force yourself to be motivated. But think of it as the ultimate, 'act as if'.
-
When you aren't confident but you act like you are, you gain confidence much faster.
-
When you aren't in a good mood, but you smile at others and they smile back, you improve your mood much faster.
When you push through and JUST START doing the things that you know will get to your goal - guess what? Your routine won't be perfect on day one. Your exercise may be cut short because you realize you started too late and need to jump in the shower and get ready for work...
But guess what..? You started. And you'll be proud of that. Albeit possibly annoyed that it didn't lay out perfectly, but now that inspires you to try again the next day, and the next, and so on.
Let your success, no matter how small, inspire you, and your pitfalls when making that progress annoy you into setting the alarm a bit earlier, heading out for workout number two in the evening, or whatever you think will make you feel better and that much prouder of your progress.
Take it from Jack, and Nike for that matter and - "Just Do It!" 😉
We look forward to keeping you inspired!
